The couple, who will celebrate 10 years married this April, stepped out together at Sundance Film Festival in support of ‘ALOK,’ which Hedison directed
Jodie Foster is Alexandra “Alex” Hedison’s biggest fan!
On Thursday, the two-time Academy Award winner, 61, was all smiles as she supported her wife of nearly a decade during the world premiere of Hedison’s short film ALOK at the Sundance Film Festival.
Foster dressed in a black peacoat, worn on top of a patterned back and white collared shirt, and accessorized with a Gucci purse. Hedison wore a velvet jacket in a dark shade of blue with a cream-colored long-sleeve blouse and a floral lapel pin.
According to the festival’s website, the film (directed by Hedison, 54) is “a compelling portrait of Alok Vaid-Menon, acclaimed nonbinary author, poet, comedian, and public speaker,” and is executive produced by Foster.
Foster previously sang her wife’s praises on Wednesday’s episode of the Today show, saying she’s most proud of “the fact that Alex and ALOK are part of making people better instead of worse.”
“I think it’s about freedom and being your best self and being free, and I have a lot to learn from it, so I’m excited for her,” continued the Nyad actress. “And I can’t wait to be there by her side and to have it not be about me.”
Hedison and Foster married after a year of dating in April 2014 in a top-secret ceremony, which friends of the newlyweds said was just their style.
As a source told PEOPLE at the time, “They are very private when they’re around people they don’t know. But when they’re together, it can be like they’re in their own world.”
Among the stars debuting new films at Sundance this year are Steven Yeun, Pedro Pascal, Michael Fassbender, Saoirse Ronan and Foster’s Panic Room costar Kristen Stewart.
Stewart, who has appeared in numerous Sundance premieres throughout her career, leads the cast of Love Lies Bleeding, a romantic drama from writer-director Rose Glass that costars Katy O’Brian, Ed Harris, Dave Franco, and Jena Malone.
The former Twilight actress, 33, also teams up with Yeun — following up the Sundance bow of the award-winning Minari — in Love Me, from filmmaking duo Sam and Andrew Zuchero. Its official logline suggests a romantic drama infused with sci-fi: “Long after humanity’s extinction, a buoy and a satellite meet online and fall in love.”
Additionally, Stewart is set to receive the Visionary Award at the Sundance opening-night gala on Thursday, meant to recognize the actress’s “work as an uncompromising artist and contributions to the field of independent film” over her two decades in the industry, the Sundance Institute announced last month.
