Jamie Lee Curtis was seen rocking a new hairdo recently, a style that still pays homage to her usual gray color but varies in length. The beloved star, also known for her frankness, has previously spoken about her perspective concerning natural beauty vs cosmetic procedures, revealing where she stands.
Iconic powerhouse actress Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, traded her signature pixie cut for a lengthier hairstyle on July 1. Curtis donned a shoulder-length bob and kept the color the same gray she is well-known for while on the set of the sequel of a fan-favorite 2000s movie she co-stars in with a famous red-headed actress.
Stepping out of her trailer on the set of the highly anticipated film “Freaky Friday 2,” the actress looked almost unrecognizable with her long gray locks. Photos snapped by paparazzi show that she also donned an all-black look, which included a cozy-looking cardigan and high-waisted pants.
Curtis held onto a bottle as she waited beside a black SUV to transport her to where she would be filming a few scenes for the day. Set to premiere in 2025, the public is excited to see the actress reprise her role as Tess Coleman and legendary entertainer Lindsay Lohan reprise her part as Curtis’ daughter, Anna Coleman.
Speaking to a media outlet last year (2023), Curtis highlighted how overdue a sequel to the classic was. “As I went around the world with ‘Halloween Ends,’ people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday’ […] When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made,’” she disclosed.
Photos showing Curtis with her long bob while filming the movie are not the first images to surface online from the film set. Disney Studios has also shared a photo on Instagram, showing the dynamic on-screen mother-daughter duo holding hands in front of their trailers.
Playing to the film’s original plot in which they swap bodies, Curtis sat on the steps of Lohan’s trailer while Lohan sat in front of hers. “The Colemans are back and coming to theatres in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!” captioned the account.
While Curtis was recently spotted rocking a lengthier hairstyle, she sported her iconic gray pixie cut in the picture Disney shared on Instagram on June 24, which perhaps suggests that the actress will be seen with different hairstyles in the film.
Additionally, Curtis’ longer gray locks may strictly be specifically for the movie and not a permanent deviation from her signature look, which celebrity hairstylist Sean James has worked on before.
Last year (2023), FHI Heat, a hair company that sells styling tools, shared a post on TikTok that gave viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how James achieves Curtis’ go-to style.
Styling Curtis’ hair for the 95th Academy Awards, James used a heat innovator dryer, a comb, and a hair straightener from the same brand to work magic on her hair. Curtis, who looked beautiful with her makeup done for the prestigious event, patiently sat as James got to work.
After using the hairstyling tools, James finished with a hair spray to set Curtis’ hair in place. Regarding beauty and industry trends relating to looks, Curtis has been open and honest about advocating for natural beauty over beauty achieved using cosmetic procedures.
In 2021, she sat down for an interview with Scottish TV show host Lorraine Kelly to speak about the matter. During their conversation, Curtis talked about how she has tried various hairstyles.
“I tried to do everything you can do to your hair. Personally, I felt it [was] humiliating. I would go into a hair salon—the smell of the chemicals, the feeling of that color on my hair […] wearing the thing, sitting under the hairdryer—I was like, ‘For what?’” Curtis revealed.
She continued, “So very early on in my career, I had a perm and then had to dye my hair for a movie and it burned my hair off my head. And the first time I cut my hair short, I went, ‘Oh! […] Wow, I look like me!’”
Jamie Lee Curtis said that since then, she stopped dyeing her locks. Using some choice words, she also reiterated her preference for leaving her physical features unaltered by cosmetic work, expressing outrage at the term and overall concept of anti-aging.
“We’re all gonna die! Why do you want to look 17 when you’re 70!? I want to look 70 when I’m 70!” Curtis exclaimed while talking to Kelly.
It’s safe to say that the legendary 65-year-old will continue to go against the grain of societal pressures concerning growing older and will not subject herself to procedures that attempt to slow down the effects of aging.
